About the conference

International conferences on Weigh-in-Motion (ICWIM) are being held every three or four years since 1995. Previous conferences were held in 1995 (Zurich), 1998 (Lisbon) and 2002 (Orlando). In 2005, the fourth conference (ICWIM4) will be held in Taiwan, the first time for the conference series to visit Asia. ICWIM4 is designed to address the broad range of technical issues related to surface transport and weight measurement systems, providing access to current research and best practice in WIM, freight analysis, and related policy issues. It is a multi-disciplinary, inter-agency supported event. Papers related to recent progress in WIM are invited for presentation at the conference and publication in the proceedings.

ICWIM4 has the following objectives:

Provide an international forum for WIM standards, research, and applications
Facilitate the meeting of manufacturers and users in an exhibition of WIM technologies
Review new developments since the last international WIM conference (ICWIM3)

Who should attend

A broad spectrum of professionals will be interested in the information to be shared at this three-day conference:

Manufacturers and users of WIM
Agencies responsible for vehicle weight enforcement, road construction and maintenance
Agencies that use traffic information to support freight mobility, safety and road pricing
Researchers in freight logistics, vehicle-road interaction, and WIM data analysis
Managers of commercial vehicle operations
